Fighting off the winter chills thanks to BERI

Three Banchory community halls have insulation, thanks to Banchory Energy Reduction Initiative (BERI).

The Banchory Guide Lodge’s recent roof replacement works included extra insulation paid for by BERI and Woodend Barn has additional roof insulation with heat circulating fans, also paid for by BERI. Crathes Hall is in the process of having insulation installed with funding from BERI.

This insulation will make these buildings cosier and will also help towards reducing the amount of heating required long-term. This in turn will reduce the resulting running costs and carbon emissions produced through heating.

BERI continues to hold energy advice drop-in sessions twice a week at Banchory Town hall. These are on Mondays and Fridays from 10.30am to 12.30pm, and provide free friendly advice.

BERI is a local community organisation funded by the Scottish Government’s Climate Challenge Fund until March 2012 and run by volunteers and part-time staff.
