Aberdeen-based charity CLAN Cancer Support is to host a wellbeing day in Banchory this month to highlight a range of new services.

The free event is to be held on February 12 from 4 to 6pm at CLAN Banchory in Ternan West Parish Church on the town’s High Street.

CLAN provides comfort, support and information, free of charge, for anyone, of any age, affected by any type of cancer.

Presentations and taster sessions will give an insight into a range of new services the charity is now providing for those affected by cancer, which includes nutrition services, skin consultations, lingerie advice and bra fitting.

A host of CLAN’s current complementary therapies as well as hair and wig styling provision will also be put into the spotlight at the event, and taster sessions of some of the therapies will be on offer. A number of CLAN volunteers and therapists will be present on the day, sharing their own experiences and knowledge.

Estelle Robb and Julie Sangster, owner of Banchory’s Riah Hair & Beauty, both provide CLAN’s specialist salon services. Julie and Estelle, as well as nutritionist Cathy Clark, will be on hand to speak to visitors at the Deeside day.

Lucy Whiteman, CLAN services manager, said: “We are delighted to have this opportunity to highlight our free support services to people in Deeside. The wellbeing open day gives people the chance to find out more about the range of services available, whether at CLAN House or our community bases throughout the North-east, including Banchory and Ballater.

“We recently rolled out our specialist lingerie advice, bra fitting, nutrition services and skin consultations in Aberdeen and want to spread the message about the support we can offer those living with cancer.

‘‘We have a wonderful specialist team that works as part of the salon and nutrition service committed to helping anyone affected by cancer. We would urge anyone who wants to find out more about our services in Deeside to come along to the open day.”

All are welcome to drop in on the day.

Therapy testers as well as hair, wig or skin consultations and bra fittings can be booked in advance by contacting CLAN on 07720737497 or by Tuesday, February 10.
