An MP is urging schools on Deeside to buy life-saving cardiac equipment.
West Aberdeenshire and Kincardine’s Stuart Donaldson has become a defibrillator champion for the constituency. Part of his role is to highlight the importance of the kit in schools.
He has written to head teachers in the area offering to visit schools to support any fundraising activities.
Mr Donaldson recently met representatives of the Oliver King Foundation at Westminster, helping to launch their latest initiative aimed at having a defibrillator in every UK school.
Oliver, 12, died after suffering a sudden cardiac arrest during a swimming race in March, 2011.
Mr Donaldson said: “Oliver’s chances of survival would have greatly increased if a defibrillator had been available,
“It is great to see the work being done by community groups across West Aberdeenshire and Kincardine to make defibrillators more accessible.
“I’ll be supporting efforts to make sure defibrillators go where they will have biggest impact, like schools and that anyone of any age is confident in using them.
