The local Aberdeenshire council elections are being held on Thursday, May 3.

Candidates for the Deeside and Donside wards and seats are as follows: Westhill and District (4 seats) - David Aitchison, SNP; Amanda Allan, SNP; Ron McKail, Scottish Conservative; Iris Walker, Scottish Liberal Democrats; Peter Young, Scottish Labour Party.

Huntly, Strathbogie and Howe of Alford (4 seats) - Moira Ingleby, Scottish Conservative; John Latham, Independent; Tom Murray, SNP; Alastair Ross, Scottish Liberal Democrats; Joanna Strathdee, SNP; Jake Williams, Scottish Green Party.

Aboyne, Upper Deeside and Donside ( 3 seats) - Peter Argyle, Scottish Liberal Democrats; Geva Blacket, SNP; Rosemary Bruce, Scottish Liberal Democrats; Beverly Cochran, Scottish Labour Party; Katrina Farquhar, Scottish Conservatives.

Banchory and Mid Deeside ( 3 seats) - Karen Clark, Scottish Liberal Democrat; Linda Clark, SNP; Jill Webster, Scottish Conservatives; Matt Wickham, Scottish Green Party; Lesley Young, Scottish Labour Party.

Stonehaven and Lower Deeside ( 4 seats) - Wendy Agnew, Scottish Conservative; Peter Bellarby, Scottish Liberal Democrat; Raymond Christie, Scottish Labour;Graeme Clark, SNP; Robert Ferguson, SNP; David Fleming, Scottish Liberal Democrat;Jeff Hutchison, Scottish Conservative, Bob Michie, Independent; Douglas Samways, Independent; Rachel Shanks, Scottish Green Party.

The Piper is inviting all candidates contesting the above seats to submit a short election statement ( with photograph) of up to 300 words which will be published in our April 27 edition.
