Opera Bohemia returns to Woodend Barn with a new production of Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor on Sunday, April 1 at 7.30pm.
Based on Walter Scott’s tragic love story, the cast list reads like a who’s who of emerging operatic talent, lead by virtuosic soprano Suzanne Shakespeare.
The plot is an emotional roller-coaster of secret love, family feuds, madness and heartache and is an exciting performance for opera-lovers whilst being the perfect introduction for first time opera-goers.
The brainchild of Douglas Nairne (who plays Enrico) and Alistair Digges (Edgardo) in 2010, Opera Bohemia is a young, dynamic, not-for-profit opera company keen to bring opera to a wider audience, particularly in the more rural areas of Scotland.
Driven by their passion and enthusiasm for their art, the company thrive on the audience’s response to their work.
Sung in Italian with English surtitles, Lucia di Lammermoor offers an evening of ensemble singing, all up close, personal!
