After an extremely long and challenging period, Forget-Me-Not Club reopened on Wednesday this week.

Dee Cobban, Team Leader, preparing to welcome back Forget-Me-Not Club members.

Based in Banchory, Bennett House, the Forget Me Not resource centre enables the experienced and dedicated team to provide dementia support to not only members living with a dementia diagnosis but also their carers.

Offering respite day care, its members are provided with a welcoming home-from-home environment where they can enjoy conversation, music, activities, gentle exercise, live entertainment and a home-made, warm, healthy lunch.

Whilst the team care for its members, this provides an opportunity for carers to have a break, knowing that their loved ones are being well looked after.

Throughout lockdown, Forget Me Not Club developed the VirtualFMNC which enabled them to maintain contact with our members through a variety of online sessions – providing a varied timetable each month and supported by an array of local entertainers, historians and musicians who help to make this possible.

VirtualFMNC will continue as it returns, enabling live entertainment sessions to be streamed to not only members attending our resource centre, but also those at home.

Another development over the last year proving popular with both members and carers has been the outreach provision.

This will continue as we move forward, providing support to those who are unable to attend the resource centre, by offering doorstep visits, occasional treats and/or accompanied gentle walking with a member of our team.

The resource centre is equipped with essential facilities for all abilities, including disabled access.

The Club recently installed a new kitchen where its qualified in house cook prepares all meals and refreshments.

Bennett House is fully secure including the beautiful, enclosed garden. Transport provision for members is available within a 10mile radius if required in addition to ample car-parking for carers.
