The switch-on of Banchory’s Christmas lights will take place this Saturday (November 19).
It will be held in Bellfield car park from 2.30-5pm following the farmers’ market.
The event is sponsored by Banchory Business Association (BBA) and marks the week that the festive lights go up in the town.
Entertainment will be provided by Banchory Pipe Band, Deeside Dance Centre and the Banchory Singers.
There will be a selection of food and drink stalls, with hot dogs and hot chocolate, mulled wine and mince pies, as well as gift idea, and wreaths and Christmas trees to order.
A BBA spokesperson said: “We are delighted to sponsor both the lights in the centre of town and the switch-on event, raising money through the Banchory calendar, Traders’ Ball and other events throughout the year.
“The lights really enhance the town centre and the switch-on attracts lots of families to meet Santa and kick-off the festive season.”
The switch-on will be performed by STV journalist Colin Wight.
Local councillor Karen Clark said: “The Christmas lights switch-on is one of the ‘must do’ events in the Banchory calendar and everyone looks forward to getting together to celebrate the countdown to Christmas.
“It’s a chance to meet up with people of all ages who make up our Banchory community and it has a great festive atmosphere so I would encourage people to go along and enjoy themselves.”
