Aboyne and Upper Deeside Rotary Club members have had a busy time of it recently.
Rotarians have been kept occupied supporting the various events that have taken place over the last couple of weeks on Royal Deeside.
Despite the mixed bag of weather over the summer break the ever-willing Rotarians put service over self and were delighted to have been involved in Aboyne Highland Games, Ballater Victoria Week, Ballater Highland Games and most recently the Tarland Show.
Their efforts have not been without reward and as such the Rotary Club has proudly raised more than £2,500 by various means.
These included shaking charitable buckets in the car parks, rolling dice for whisky, running quizzes, raffling rather large bottles of whisky and even supplying the “Village Idiot” in the stocks on Ballater Green.
Rumour has it that there was even Royalty having a go at the “Roll the Dice for Whisky” game last week.
Unfortunately they went away empty handed.
On the other hand the same cannot be said for local man Colin Smith who was delighted to discover he had won the Gallon of Grouse in the Rotary raffle at the Aboyne Highland Games.
It is believed he went home that night and raised a glass or three, to acknowledge the efforts of Aboyne and Upper Deeside Rotary Club’s continuing quest to support the local communities.
