A young Ballater girl is preparing to host an annual tea party in aid of a diabetes charity.
Lizzie Scripps, 11, has been a type 1 diabetic since she was 18 months and this will be the family’s 10th event in support of the InDependent Diabetes Trust.

All proceeds raised on Saturday, May 7, will go towards the Dream Trust, which assists children in developing countries with type 1 diabetes.
Lizzie’s mum Cat said: “The tea party is usually held at our home in Hawthorn Place but, like a lot of people, we suffered flood damage during Storm Frank and have been living in temporary accommodation, so that’s just not possible this year.
“However, we are looking forward to hosting the party on the Green and welcoming lots of new and familiar faces, many of whom come to support the event every year.”
There will be the usual tea marquee and popular homebakes, a bungee run, bouncy castle and ball pit for the youngsters.
Cat added: “With more shops reopening and many new and existing events planned, the village really is fighting back and we hope Lizzie’s tea party will provide a little distraction for those that need it, while raising cash for a good cause.”
Lizzie said: “I love the fact that everyone is so generous and kind and over the years we have raised thousands of pounds for children with diabetes, both in Scotland and overseas.”
The event is on the Victoria Road side of the Green from 10-4pm. Entry by donation.
