Banchory’s Tor-na-Coille hotel is hoping to add to its clutch of accolades at a prestigious award ceremony this week.

The Deeside hotel is one of three finalists in the hotly contented ‘Most Hospitable Hotel’ category of the 2015 Aberdeen City and Shire Tourism Awards (ACSTA).

Over the past few weeks, hotels and restaurants across Deeside have been waiting to hear whether they have won in their category of the regional awards.

The winners will be announced tomorrow (Friday), during a ceremony at Ardoe House Hotel and Spa.

The awards are organised by the Aberdeen City and Shire Hotels’ Association (ACSHA).

No stranger to scooping industry awards, Tor-na-Coille Hotel & Restaurant has accrued a clutch of notable ones in recent years, including being named North-East Boutique Hotel of the Year and North-East Restaurant of the Year in the 2014 Scottish Hotel Awards while general manager Phillip Fleming received a gold medal.

In addition, the hotel holds four star ratings from both Visit Scotland and the Scottish Hotel Guide.

Commenting on the hotel’s place as a finalist in the 2015 Aberdeen City and Shire Tourism Awards, Phillip said: “Reaching the final stages of these important awards is in itself a wonderful achievement.

“There is no doubt that the excellent team at Tor-na-Coille Hotel & Restaurant play a very important part in the warm welcome the venue offers, and I am very proud that their efforts have brought us to this stage.

“We are now crossing everything for success on Friday night!”

Other local contenders include Ardoe House Hotel in the ‘Our Warmest Welcome’ category, Buchanan’s Bistro in the ‘Best Informal Eating Experience’ section, and RunBalmoral in ‘Best Event or Festival’.

Meanwhile, Royal Deeside’s Glen Tanar Estate is hoping for success for young ghillie Craig McDonald, who has been shortlisted in the ‘Young Ambassador’ category.

Craig will face competition for the award from Visit Aberdeen’s Adele Chessor and Stuart McPhee of Harding Ltd.
