A North-east church organist and musical accompanist is to be honoured later this month.
Sandy Argo has retired after a career spanning around 60 years.
There will be a presentation to him at Cluny Church on Sunday, June 26, at 11am.
Sandy, who lives in Torphins, was church organist at Cluny, Sauchen, for nearly 25 years and before that played at Middlefield in Aberdeen.
He was a leading figure in establishing the Cluny/Millbank pantomime in the late 80s and 90s, followed by accompanying the Cluny Players and taking part in their shows.
The productions were popular family entertainment locally as well as across Aberdeenshire through many invitations to provide concerts in support of local charities.
Sandy has supported and led music at Cluny Church throughout his time as organist and his music accompanied many a bride and groom on their wedding day.
He started what was to become an annual Christmas carol service, well attended by people from far and wide.
Sandy actively encouraged the choir who had the opportunity to attempt pieces of music by Stainer (Crucifixion), Karl Jenkins (Armed Man) and the popular John Rutter, among many others.
Anyone wanting to contribute or help celebrate his long and distinguished musical career would be most welcome.
