Sir Robert Smith, Member of Parliament for West Aberdeenshire and Kincardine, has welcomed recent data from the ONS which names his constituency as the highest ranking in Great Britain for ‘good’ general health.
89% of people in West Aberdeenshire have said they consider themselves to be in ‘good’ general health and this compares to a national average of 81 per cent.
The constituency also has the lowest rate of unemployment in the UK at 0.5%
Sir Robert said: “The data shows that more people consider themselves to be in good health in West Aberdeenshire and Kincardine than anywhere in the UK. This is good news and may be connected with the low rate of unemployment.
“...the stoical nature of people in the North East may also go some way towards explaining this statistic.”
