Scotland ‘Dee-cides’

Deesiders will head to the polls this morning (Thursday) as Scotland makes what is probably its biggest decision in modern history.

After years in the making, the day has arrived which will see Scots say Yes or No to remaining a part of the United Kingdom.

Polling stations across Deeside are open from 7am, and will remain so until 10pm when the ballots will be collected and taken to the big Count at Aberdeen’s AECC.

It is thought that the results of the referendum will start being announced in the early hours of Friday morning, although we may not learn the overall result until later in the day.

Earlier this week, the Queen spoke about the referendum debate as she attended the Sunday service at Crathie Kirk on September 14.

Her Majesty spoke to a group of Royal observers outside the church and is reported to have said: “I hope everybody thinks very carefully about the referendum.”

This was the first time the Queen has made any comment on the question of independence.
