A public consultation is now open for comments on plans to move Aboyne Post Office from its current location to create a modern open-plan local-style branch.
Post Office local is a new concept for delivering Post Office services and the new Aboyne branch would offer Post Office products and services from an open-plan till at the retail counter throughout shop opening hours, instead of from a screened counter.
The proposed new location for the branch is Holidaymakers, Unit 4 Northside, Station Square, Aboyne AB34 5HX. This is 600 metres from its current site at Charlesston Road, Aboyne, AB34 5EJ. Customers and interested parties can now give their comments on the move in a six-week public consultation.
Should the move go ahead, the branch would open from 9am - 5:30pm Monday to Friday and from 9am to 1pm on Saturday.
The proposed move is part of major modernisation programme across the Post Office network designed to make it easier for customers to do business, in a modern open plan environments.
Sheila McCann Post Office Regional Manager said: “We understand how important having a Post Office is to residents in Aboyne and we are confident that this new modern Post Office service will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future.
“This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office and marks a commitment to no more branch closure programmes.”
