Organisers of what is billed as Deeside’s top social event say they have been overwhelmed by the level of support for this weekend’s Banchory Summer Marquee Ball.
The popular fundraiser, which will take place at the Raemoir House Hotel on Saturday, is again a sell-out and this time the proceeds from the function will go towards the Banchory Sports Village project.
The long-awaited scheme is approaching its target to start work in 2017, which will see a swimming pool and much-needed leisure centre come to fruition.
Logan Sangster, one of the marquee ball organisers, said: “The summer ball programme has sold out this year, and was co-ordinated by Arlene McFarlane of Strachan, and she has done a sterling job of the production.
“Over all, we are delighted with the response this year, in a year we thought we may struggle to get the support we need to carry it off.
“We would like to thank everyone who has went that extra mile to make our popular event a success and the support we have had is remarkable.”
The 19th ball takes the form of arrival drinks on the lawn followed by a three-course dinner.
There is a grand raffle, with the top prize being a week in the Algarve.
A fine auction will also be held and the organisers recently made an appeal for donations.
