Aberdeenshire Council are to host a special event next week to provide information about the plans for the Banchory sports Centre.
The public meeting will take place at Hill of banchory School on Thursday, March 31 from 3pm till 7pm.
The new facility will cost in the region of £8.5million and work is due to start next year and completed by December 2018.
The project is funded by Aberdeenshire Council as well as sportscotland, developer obligations and local fundraising.
The sports centre will include facilities such as a six-lane pool, training pool, four court sports hall, exercise rooms, cafe, meeting rooms and squash courts.
In addition the dedicated support from local group Banchory Sports Village has raised £700,000 towards the project.
Head of Lifelong Learning and Leisure John Harding said: “Come and see the proposals for a range of high quality sports facilities for local people; active and successful local sports clubs and visitors to the area that the council has developed following extensive local consultation.
“The building is a great example of how the council can work with local communities, and in particular we would thank everyone who has contributed to the local fundraising.”
Councillors approved Aberdeenshire’s Capital Plan 2015-2030 at a meeting of the Policy and Resources Committee on November, 12 2015 which included Banchory Sports Centre having previously been approved to be included in the plan in 2012.
Regular reports will appear at Marr Area Committee and a further report will be at Policy and Resources Committee in April.
