Alford residents will have the chance to have their say on a proposed community sports hub at a consultation meeting next week.
A community consultation evening is being held at 7.15pm on Monday, March 2 at Alford Community Centre for residents to express their thoughts and ideas on how to shape such a facility in the Alford area.
The initiative, which is in partnership with sportscotland, aims to increase participation and engage the local community in physical activities as well as promote community leadership by bringing together key partners and groups.
Chair of Aberdeenshire Council’s Education, Learning and Leisure Committee, Councillor Isobel Davidson, said: “The opening of the new Alford Community Campus later this year creates the ideal opportunity for those living within the area to create a lasting legacy for sport and recreation in the form of a community sports hub.
“The hub will be tailored to the needs of the local community and will be a great tool for sports clubs to come together and bounce ideas off one another.”
During the evening Aberdeenshire Council officers will provide a national and regional overview of how other community sports hubs work and what can be learnt from their successes.
