Residents urged to give their views

Westhill Community Council is continuing to urge local residents to give their thoughts on a proposed retail development in the area.

Proposals for a retail development have been submitted to Aberdeenshire Council. Under the plans the existing shopping centre would be altered, along with the car park.

St James’s Property Unit Trust, which owns the site, wants to attract more retailers to the town, and a supporting document says the design and layout has been created to be “welcoming” and “distinctive”.

Bill King, web editor for the community council, said: “While it appears that the majority of people are in favour of additional facilities, it has highlighted that there are a number of concerns regarding the design and positioning of the proposed new units. If there are enough people voicing concerns, there is a good chance that it may influence the outcome.”
