S’no time like the present to check new camera
A new web camera is now operational on the Cairn o’ Mount B974 Banchory to Fettercairn road at the Snow Gate in Glen Dye.
The device, the brainchild of Feughdee West Community Council and funded by Aberdeenshire Council, is hoped to help motorists decide which route to take before embarking on their journey. Drivers will be able to plan in advance by simply viewing the image on any device with internet connection.
A spokesman for Feughdee West Community Council said: “Motorists often have to drive miles to the nearest snow gate sign, only then to find that if closed, a huge detour is necessary to reach the A90 if travelling south, or likewise to mid-Aberdeenshire and beyond if travelling north via Fettercairn. The many commuters and businesses who use the B974 on a daily basis will find this facility particularly helpful, saving time, fuel and most of all –inconvenience.”
The project has been given widespread support which includes the local branch of Police Scotland, Braemar Mountain Rescue, Banchory Business Association and councillors Jill Webster, Karen Clark, Linda Clark and Geva Blackett.
