Equestrian champion, Eilidh Middleton from Finzean, celebrated achieving a BA (Hons) in Management when she graduated from Robert Gordon University’s Business School after recently winning the Student Riders Nations Cup in the Netherlands.
Eilidh, 21, who has represented Britain at a number of international events, has benefited from the RGU: SPORT scholarship programme during her studies, which has provided the equestrian star with a range of tailor-made programmes designed to suit her individual needs.
Eilidh believes this has contributed greatly towards raising the standard at which she competes.
She said: “Juggling a semi-professional sporting career and my degree has not always been easy. However, the support I have received as part of the scholarship has been tremendous, without which I simply would not have been able to continue competing whilst doing well in my studies.”
The keen sportswoman, who also played for the university’s shinty team for four years, has competed as part of the British university equestrian teams in a number of countries around the world, winning individual and team titles at the British University Showjumping Championships.
Eilidh, who has always held a desire to combine her love of horses with a business career, will continue to teach riding.
She added: “For now, I’m going to concentrate on my sporting career but would eventually like to start my own horse eventing yard, riding and competing horses for different owners.”
