Local family-support charity Homestart Deeside held a super fund- raiser in the town’s hotel on Wed. 18th hotel’s beautiful lawn, in brilliant sunshine, saw the attendees in all their finery supporting this unique charity.

Ladies from all over were resplendent in their lovely outfits and of course hats being the order of the day enjoyed a sumptuous Summer lunch with plenty of fizz. Philip and his staff pulled out all the stops to ensure the ladies had a great time. Bets were on and raffle prizes for all who attended. Logan Sangster gave freely of his time to take pictures & donated the prize (Photography voucher £50) for the Best Hat which won by Vinnie Burnett. Best outfit was won by Angela Duthie (case of wine donated by Suzy and Peter Brown). Sue Grover won Best accessories (Bottle of champagne donated by Alex. Burnett). A special prize picked by Philip, on the day, went to Gill Gray who was the beautiful Audrey Hepburn lookalike (Tor-Na-Choille voucher). Senior Co-ordinator Linda Clark said “I’d like to thank all the ladies who attended, all the people who gave the beautiful prizes, Philip and his staff. In particular though, I must mention my colleagues Julie, Leah and Sharon who played a blinder on the day. With so many charities raising funds, the bite of the cherry becomes harder to get. Events such as this one are vital for our organisation both in terms of raising coffers but even more importantly, to keep our profile up and therefore the sustainability of the scheme.
