Strathdon Community Action Plan Paths group (SCAPP) is calling for volunteers after receiving £1500 from Scottish charity Paths for All to improve local routes.

The project is aimed at encouraging people to get outdoors and become involved with their community.

The plan is to improve the footpath from Heughhead to Bellabeg along the old road, clear access on Ben Newe and develop a footpath from Towie School to Glenkindie Shop.

Longer term, there are proposals to create a footpath from the Bellabeg shop to the Colquhonnie Hotel, and on to the Mill of Newe car park.

Some path-clearing on Ben Newe has already been carried out by Deeside Horse Power, removing blown-down trees.

SCAPP is promoting a launch event on Friday, February 23, between 11am and 3pm.

Volunteers will be able to walk from Towie to Glenkindie, helping establish an off-road footpath between the two communities.
