Westhill raises £800 for charity

The sum of £800 was donated by the residents of Westhill in a collection organised by the Westhill and Skene Lions Club on August 6.

As part of their regular book sale, the Lions Club collected donations for the Disaster Emergency Committee, East Africa Famine Relief.

The Lions promised to match all the contributions with an equal sum from their funds. Leo the Lion turned out, too, and caught the attention of busy shoppers at the Westhill Shopping Centre.

The response was remarkable and £396 was put into Leo’s collection bucket with the Lions club itself donating the rest.
