Fed up with their old red and white kit, the Aboyne Bulldogs wanted a change of image.
Not a team to sit around expecting hand outs, the boys decided to take matters into their own hands and conducted various fund raising events throughout the past year.
Team members held a candle party in the village and attended Christmas Fairs at both Aboyne Primary and Aboyne Academy, where they sold numerous supporter’s scarves and toffee, made by local grandma, Caroline Burnett. They also raffled a signed Aberdeen Football which was won by Lee Morrison from Lumphanan.
Their hard work and determination paid off and they were able to raise enough money to buy a brand new black and yellow kit with numbers, training jackets, a football carry case and a gazebo, which they will be able to use as a shelter and changing room during tournaments throughout the football season.
Their next challenge is to provide training courses for their coaches. Look out for the smartly dressed black and yellow team this year.
