Banchory thump Colony

Banchory continued their unbeaten start to the league with an impressive performance against Colony Lads.

Banchory were always favourites for this match and from the start of the game they played the passing football that was too strong for the opposition. The scoring started as early as the second minute when Marnoch headed home after early pressure had created two corners. Marnoch added a second after four minutes after a run by Yeoman led to a ball to Marnoch who battled through two strong challenges and then hit his shot from 12 yards.

Banchory were playing the ball around and using all of their players and with West and Crowe wide on the wings were stretching the Colony midfield creating space for Flaherty and Cameron in the centre.

Flaherty increased the lead to three on 22 minutes after a move down the left from West and feedback from Gardyne allowed Flaherty to cut inside on the edge of the box and he was able to curl it into the top corner away from a full stretch Colony keeper.

Gardyne and Maybury were causing the Colony defence trouble up front and were working hard to create space for shooting opportunities and they were both rewarded in quick succession on the half hour.

Banchory continued to take full advantage of their expansive play and pulled away by half time to a seven goal advantage with further goals from West and Marnoch.

In the second half, Banchory continued to show their dominance and added a further eight goals, although their play should have resulted in more. Flaherty added a second, Maybury and Gardyne both completed hat-tricks and Marnoch increased his score to four. Ingram pushed forward in the last 20 minutes and he was suitably rewarded with his first goal for the team to round off the scoring on 82 minutes.

The only hiccup was a slip up in defence on 85 minutes where a long ball from the Colony defence was picked up and controlled well just inside the Banchory half by the striker and his pace was enough to give him a yard of space and he hit a string shot from just outside the box and evaded a full diving Mason in goals to see the ball go in off the post to get a consolation reward for their efforts.

Next week Banchory are away at Formartine.
