Banchory's Rising Triathlon Star

It is only recently that Rory Steven has been interested in competing in triathlons as his focus was swimming and rugby when he was a young teenager. After a brief introduction to the sport at Knockburn, initially under the eyes of site manager Tom Wilson, who himself is an elite Tri athlete, and the weekly Fleet Feet Triathletes training sessions, Rory's natural triathlon skills became evident.

In September 2015, Rory qualified for one of the 24 places in the 2015/16 Tri squad and the decision was made to enhance his skills under professional coach Ken Bryson of Total Endurance who has 40 years of experience and has commented that “Rory made great progress over the last year the proof being recently when he won the Scottish Youth Aquathon Championships” held at Knockburn back in May against Scotland’s top Triathletes gathered to race for the titles and Rory was in hot contention; not only for his age group honours but that of overall placement.

Rory’s 3 younger sisters are right behind him claiming podium positions at local and national events. As a family they are regular attendees to Fleet Feet training sessions and also make full use of the purpose built 60 acre facility at Knockburn. “

Rory’s elated comment on the day was “I have a bright future in sport” – this positive attitude will prove Rory’s success and put him on many more podiums.
