Culter eventually overcame a stuffy Longside outfit to cruise into the second round.
The Deesiders started well with Ross McWilliam having a powerful header saved before Dod McBain thrashed an effort into the side netting. It was all Culter at this stage and Peter Shaw went close with a header which flew just over. Longside tried to get back into it when they hit the bar with John Farquhar beaten but Dod McBain should have done better at the other end from a terrific Allan Youngson ball.
With 10 minutes of the second half gone Culter sent on Ryan Stott and this proved to be a decisive decision with the sub setting up the opener for Dod McBain who coolly slotted home. The Longside ‘keeper then made a great double save from Jamie McAllister and Ross McWilliam. Culter went deservedly two up when a superb long cross from Andy Sim was headed home at the back post by a delighted Ryan Stott. Five minutes later the Ryan Stott doubled his tally when he capitalised on good work by Dod McBain to put Culter on easy street. With the clock running down Dod McBain added his own second following some superb lead up play.
