Culter’s hopes of retaining the Superleague title were left hanging by a thread after a surprise defeat to FC Stoneywood at Crombie Park last Wednesday.
Culter started well with Jamie and Darren McAllister firing in some dangerous crosses without testing the away keeper.
Following a scramble in the away box, Robertson’s 20 yard effort was flicked just past the post by Jamie McAllister. Robertson then supplied McWilliam who turned his marker but shot straight into the arms of Goodbrand.
Stoneywood finally had their first shot at goal on 31 minutes when Rintoul’s mishit shot found Skinner but his weak shot was easily saved by Farquhar.
However two minutes later Skinner squared the ball to McKECHNIE who had all the time in the world to round Farquhar and fire home. Just on half time Robertson’s powerful free kick was well held by Goodbrand
At the start of the second half ex-Culter player FARMER placed the ball past Farquhar from what looked an offside position and then STEVENSON tapped in a third within ten minutes.
Culter introduced all three subs and McKimmie crossed for George McBAIN to score with his first touch in the 56th minute.
Stoneywood were reduced to 10 men when Skinner received his second yellow card for dissent on 77 minutes.
Wilson passed to McBain who brought out a smart save from Goodbrand but the away keeper could only watch in the 79th minute as Jamie McALLISTER headed home Youngson’s cross from close range.
But just when it looked as Culter might salvage something from the match, STEVENSON evaded a couple of tackles before poking the ball past Farquhar leaving him the simply task of firing the ball into the empty net in the 81st minute.
Anderson saw red in injury time after chopping down McBain when the forward was in full flow but the nine men held out.
