Culter comeback stuns Hive

Stonehaven and Culter played out an entertaining 3-3 draw at Glenury Park on Tuesday night in the Grill League Cup.

Culter were first to have a crack at goal when on 6 minutes Lee Murray lashed a shot at the Hive goal forcing the goalkeeper to make a good save.

This was about as good as it got for the visitors though as Stonehaven went 1-0 up in the 10th minute when Alexander waltzed through the Culter defence to fire Hive ahead.

They increased their lead on 13 minutes when Steel was on hand to punish the Culter defence.

Culter’s beleaguered defence was breached by the home side again on 20 minutes through Horne, who slotted past McIntosh to put the hosts firmly in the driving seat.

Culter made two changes for the second half with Youngson and McBain being replaced by Stott and McKimmie and this seemed to inspire The Deesiders.

Culter had a route to recovery when Jamie McAllister was brought down on the edge of the box. Hugh ROBERTSON stepped up to convert the freekick to make the score 3-1.

Four minutes later Stott picked up possession on the wing and fired a great cross that MCALLISTER headed into the back of the net to make it 3-2.

Stonehaven then had shout for a 4th goal but their protests fell on deaf ears as play flowed from end to end.

However it was Culter that made it 3-3 on 79 minutes when Murray won the ball in the middle of the park and released STOTT to fire low under the keeper to ensure a share of the spoils.

Culter were then reduced to ten men as Murray was sent off for violent conduct on 85 minutes.
