Culter advanced into the knock out stages of the Grill League Cup with an easy win over second division side Newmachar United at Crombie Park.
With Culter parked in the away half for most of the match the only question was how they managed to concede two goals but The Deesiders are assured top spot in Section 3 after Stonehaven’s heavy defeat to Hermes. Culter’s Wilson was the first try his luck in the 5th minute but sliced his effort wide of the post.
Stott then blasted over the bar twice in as many minutes but in the 14th Culter went ahead. Shaw latched onto a poor Taylor backpass and crossed to Ryan STOTT who netted at the second attempt.
McKimmie went on a mazy run in the 28th minute and his cross found Stott whose header rattled the crossbar.
A minute later the away team failed to clear their lines and Jamie MCALLISTAIR turned his marker before drilling the ball home from 16 yards.
In the 39th minute Robertson played in Ross MCWILLIAM who took one touch before blasting the ball past Stephen.
A minute from half time Shaw left Taylor in knots and squared the ball to Ross MCWILLIAM to tap home for his second goal of the game. Straight from the kick off Newmachar United pulled a goal back when Scott KEITH played a neat one-two with McLeod before placing the ball past McIntosh.
McWilliam and Craik had decent efforts from distance, but in the 59th minute Youngson crossed to McBain who touched the ball onto Ryan STOTT to hammer home the fifth.
In the 66th minute in another rare attack from Newmachar Jack TAYLOR shot high into the net from close range.
Shaw saw his goal bound shot kicked off the line by Wyness and then McWilliam was denied his hat trick when his header was well saved by Stephen.
Ryan STOTT skipped past the static away defence before sending a rocket home in 78 minutes.
In the last minute Stott floated in a cross that was met by the head of Jamie MCALLISTER to complete the scoring.
