Culter stunned by late goal

In Culter’s first home league game of the season Hermes came from a goal behind to snatch an injury time win.

Shaw was first to threaten when his low cross was just missed by McWilliam, it fell to Stott but his cross was cleared by Middleton.

On the 25th minute ex-Culter player Wyness hit the crossbar with a header and Robertson cleared the danger with Macklin ready to pounce.

Shaw then saw his shot on the turn parried away by Sweeney and Stott just missed the rebound. Culter went in front in the 29th minute, McBain went on a surging run and slipped the ball to Ross McWILLIAM who looped the ball into the far corner of the net.

With half time approaching Sweeney produced a great one handed save to deny McWilliam. McIntosh in the home goal got down well to save Madle’s effort and at the other end McWilliam crossed for McAllister to see another effort saved by Sweeney.

Wyness had a great chance when headed wide from a great position with the home team screaming for offside.

Craik had a cracking 20 yard shot stopped by Sweeney and the ball landed to McAllister whose shot was blocked on the line before Stott blasted over the bar.

Courage made McIntosh make another diving save but on 76 minutes the scores were level. Macklin had loads of space on the wing and his low cross picked out Steven Watson on the edge of the box who swept the ball into the corner of the net.

McBain could have put the home team in front again seconds later when though on goal but saw his well struck shot saved by the legs of Sweeney.

Madle then saw his shot flash across the goal before the same player waltzed though the home defence but side footed his effort well over.

With all eyes on the clock Madle floated in a cross that McIntosh could only get a touch to, the ball dropped to Richard Wyness who poked the ball home for the winner from a yard out in the 92nd minute.
