A group of young orienteers from Mar Orienteering Clubhelped Scotland win at the Junior Home International this weekend.

As part of the Scottish Junior Orienteering Squad, Banchory’s Jenny Rickets, Abi Mason, Jake Chapman, Eilidh Campbell, Alistair Chapman, Luke Graham and Matthew Gooch from Aboyne took the long journey to Migiligan Sands, North West Ireland.

With a very strong England team taking the lead after the Individual races on Saturday, the tough Scottish orienteers pulled together in a very exciting relay event to ease into the lead beating England with a final score of 129 to 124. Ireland was in third with 59 and Wales finished on 48. This is only the second time Scotland have won the Junior home International since 1990, making it two in a row after defeating England in Oban last year, however this is their first victory away from home.
