The Phins travelled to Sheddocksley to face McTeagle in another mid-week league fixture.
The wind howled round the playing fields making playing conditions difficult but it seemed as though some fight had returned to the Phins side.
McTeagle barely had the ball in the Phins half, and the away side were creating chances. Brown headed from a corner but the McTeagle goalkeeper tipped it over the bar.
Michie and D Cruickshank were controlling the middle and Cruickshank hit a storming long range effort that the keeper saved well to deny the Phins going one up.
The midfielder then put Brown through on goal and his headed chip was cleared off the line by a defender. The resulting corner was played short to Smith whose turn and shot pulled another save out the goalkeeper for another corner. Again Smith was in the thick of the occasion as his header came crashing off the bar.
Torphins were playing the better football but on 40 minutes it was McTeagle who stole the lead.
Allan was deemed to have handled wide on the right. As the set piece was delivered, Geddes failed to stick to his man, who rose to power a header by the helpless Cooper for 1-0.
Torphins had one more attack before half time. Michie fed Brown who curled a shot just wide of the 18 yard box but the ball went just over the bar.
The second half continued where it left off with Torphins dominating their opponents. Michie managed to skip by the keeper one-on-one but was unlucky not to find anyone with his cut back.
However with all this pressure, the Phins were vulnerable on the counter attack and had to rely on a fantastic save by Cooper at his near post to keep McTeagle just one in front.
Travers and Mitchell were substituted for Allardyce and Smith and the Phins went 4–3–3 and straight after Gilbert had a shot saved by the goalkeeper in a goal mouth scramble.
With ten minutes to go Meaden was thrown on up front to replace Gilbert. The attacker won a corner and the Phins finally drew level.
Mitchell delivered and that man TRAVERS headed home for his third of the season.
In the final minutes Torphins forced McTeagle back. Meaden had a long range effort tipped over the bar and Michie had a header saved from a free kick.
Johnstone won a free kick right at the death and as the ball was headed back across goal Meaden’s shot was saved on the line by the McTeagle goalkeeper.
