Westhill triathlete Lewis Murchie kept up his good form last weekend as he won the Junior award for his 800m swim and 10k run at the King’s Aquathlon.
Lewis is still waiting for confirmation that he also won the entire event, which included a number of competitors older than him.
Despite breaking his arm at the end of last season and struggling to train due to the harsh winter Lewis has started the season strongly.
The 18-year-old will now attempt to put in another solid display at this weekend’s targeted event in Stirling.
Lewis said: “The King’s Aquathlon was an enjoyable event as a stepping stone for the Stirling Championship Duathlon next Sunday.
“I could have entered the shorter sprint distance at Stirling but really wanted to test myself over the longer endurance, and to compete against the best adults in the country at this distance.”
Sunday’s event is a gruelling 10k run, followed by a 40k cycle, then another 5k run.
Lewis is looking to attract sponsorship from businesses this year who might gain from supporting young talent. Anyone interested in sponsoring Lewis can email him at firstname.lastname@example.org
