Aboyne Golf Club declared their Club Golf Camp last week a resounding success with eight young golfers graduating from the intensive coaching course.
Just days after the exciting finish of The Open at Royal Troon in Ayrshire, the aspiring young golfers were put through their paces by Aboyne resident professional Steve Moir.
Steve said: “The group predominantly were beginners to the game who soon came to grasp the fundamentals and quickly progressed during the programme.
“It was great to see them pick up the techniques and golfing knowledge so rapidly through a range of fun-filled activities.
“There was some good group bonding and new friendships formed with plenty of laughs along the way.
“All the youngsters showed good playing potential and I was delighted with their progress and happy to kick start their interest in the game - who knows we may have a future winner of The Openamongst their ranks.”
Club President Scott Mackie said: “It was great to see the juniors taking advantage of the first ClubGolf camp of the Summer.
“We will continue to promote ClubGolf throughout the year at Aboyne and will be looking to get more juniors from the area starting up and enjoying their golf.”
Scott added: “Aboyne has a long history of producing excellent young players who go on to represent the Club at the highest level.
“Our junior section continues to go from strength to strength through this excellent Club Golf initiative and we are grateful for the invaluable coaching our youngsters receive from our Professional Steve Moir.
“We want to continue to nurture this upcoming talent through our close ties with the local primary schools that feed in to Aboyne Academy.”
Due to popular demand Aboyne Golf Club will be running further introductory coaching sessions for juniors on 8th to 10th August (2- 3.30PM and 3.30-5PM). If interested please contact firstname.lastname@example.org to be added to the mailing list.
