Banchory Stonehaven AC’s success indoors continued last weekend, with Alisha Rees taking the gold medal, and Maddy Silcock silver, in the National Indoor Championship U20 60m.
Alisha won her heat and semi before winning in 7.55s, and Maddy similarly won her heat and semi, running 7.85 to come second.
The success follows on from Alisha’s record-breaking effort last week where she broke a 35-year record for an athlete under 20 to take the 200m title.
Both athletes are coached by Willy Russell, and it is the first time ever that the club has had two athletes on the podium at the same time in this event.
Maddy’s brother, Ralph, also had a successful day competing in the U15 age group.
He won silver in the 60mH with a new pb of 9.57s, and silver in the triple jump with a new pb of 10.76m.
Also competing at the Championships was Emma Swanson.
She had not competed Indoors before, however was unphased as she ran a new pb of 5.08.93 in her 1500m heat, and is now ready to take her success outdoors.
