After a successful season last year Banchory Basketball Club is getting set for an even bigger and better campaign this time around.
The club, which was formed in 1993, is getting ready to enter into it’s 24th competitive season, looking to build on the achievements of last year.
Last season Banchory’s U18 Girls, the Ravens won the Basketball Grampian Final at the Beach Leisure Centre, beating a strong Portlethen team with a very convincing 30-point victory.
The U18s Boys, which is a team of combined Aboyne and Banchory players, also had a resounding win in their final, against the boys from Portlethen, winning by 90 points with an outstanding display of skill and teamwork that reflected the hard work they had put in over the season.
The Banchory Stags also played Portlethen on the same day in the Simpson Cup Final but this time it was disappointment for Banchory after an epic match that went to double overtime in order to get a winner.
Banchory Basketball Club’s Mike Reilly said: “It was a great day of finals that will surely encourage more players into the sport and already our club has had requests from new members to join.
“We welcome new players and if anyone would like to be part of this exciting and dynamic sport in any capacity, I would be happy for them to contact me by phone or email. firstname.lastname@example.org or 07915644566.”
The club will hold its AGM this weekend and training has just begun for the season ahead that looks so promising on many fronts.
