Deeside Rugby Club were crowned champions of BT Caledonia League Division 2 North on Saturday following a 53-0 win away to Lochaber.
The result, compiled with Aberdeen Wanderers beating Garioch 17-10 at Groats Road, meant it would be back-to-back titles and promotions for the Banchory side having won Caledonia North 3 last year.
Deeside had always looked favourites for the title having been top of the table since week one.
Garioch, Wanderers and Ross Sutherland kept pressure on Bruce Strachan’s side but were unable to knock them off the top as Deeside secured the title with one game to spare.
That match will come this Saturday as Shetland travel to Woodend where, win or lose, Deeside will be presented with the trophy.
Club President Ian Finlayson said: “What a day in the Club’s ongoing development.
“The coaching staff of Bruce, Eric and Donald have done a great job in getting this young team to the top of league for the second year in a row.
“Well done to all the players.”
The clubs promotion now means they will move into the top regional division in Caledonia, just one league below the National Divisions.
They will join the likes of Dunfermline, Glenrothes, Strathmore, Caithness, Carnoustie and last years Caley 2 runners up RAF Lossiemouth.
There may even be a Stonehaven-Banchory derby on the cards if Mackie Academy FPs can avoid relegation.
Following the Shetland match Deeside will have a long summer break to prepare for a tough season and will also be hosting the “Deeside Sevens” at Woodend on Saturday, May 28.
