Deeside Rugby Club have been awarded the BT Club of the Month award for December 2015 by the Scottish Rugby Union.
The club have been recognised for maintaining high performance standards and for the development of their growing youth section.
Club President Ian Finlayson said: “Needless to say I am absolutely delighted and thrilled for everyone involved with the club.
“We have moved forward in the last two seasons with a group of young and enthusiastic players, many who started their rugby careers at the club.
“The coaching team of Bruce Strachan, Eric Strachan and Donald Ballantyne have done a fantastic job in building a team who have built on their success from last season.”
The 1st XV currently sit top of BT Caledonia League Division 2 North and could confirm themselves as champions by the start of next month should they take bonus point wins in their next two games and other results go their way.
Deeside will face Lochaber away on Saturday, February 20 before a home game against Moray on March 5.
Deeside’s thriving youth section was also a massive factor in claiming the award with the amalgamated Deeside Wanderers team winning the SRU Red Conference and mini’s & micros sections constantly growing in both numbers and enthusiasm.
There is also a spread of UKCC coaches at the club with two female coaches involved in the micro section, as Deeside strive to increase girls’ participation in rugby.
In winning the award, Deeside will receive a prize of the value of £1000, through a 12-month BT Sport subscription and £200 cash. They will also win a table for 10 at the Scottish Rugby Club Awards Dinner, and will be subsidised £500 for travel expenses to this event. Deeside will also be in the shortlist for the BT Club of the Year award, to be announced at the dinner.
