Following one of its most successful years ever, the GTM Young Engineers Club has been confirmed for the national final at Goodwood.

The Grampian Transport Museum Club, which was formed in 2008, competes annually at the international Formula 24 race organised by Greenpower.

Earlier this month the team travelled to the East Fortune airfield for a race in which there was fortune indeed.

The team has three cars, the Rocket, the Spyder and the Bullet. The Spyder won one race and the Bullet was second in the other. These results mean that the Rocket and Spyder are confirmed entries for Goodwood and the Bullet is a very strong possibility.

The Rocket won the Alford race back in June with the other cars collecting awards for best engineered and most innovative use of recycled materials.

Mike Ward, curator at the museum, said “The Young Engineers have worked tirelessly on the three cars throughout 2014.

‘‘Their success so far is well deserved and an excellent reflection of what young people can achieve in the world of science and engineering.’’

The team will compete at Goodwood in October.
