400 of the North East’s Sooyang Do Martial Arts students were present as The UK Sooyang Do Association held their December belt examinations at the Westdyke Leisure Centre in Westhill last weekend.
From complete beginners through to 2nd Degree Black Belt, and from 5years old to over 60 years old, all participants contributed to a fantastic exhibition of this unique martial art.
It was a fantastic experience for everyone involved including instructors, students, parents and spectators and was a proud day for all concerned.
Saturday’s examinations kicked off with 30 senior students being tested for their 1st /2nd Dans and intermediate tags and a further 8 students being tested and awarded that coveted Black Belt for the first time.
Amongst those who received their belt promotion werestudents from Banchory – Duncan Banfield,Finlay Morrison and John Getliff. Alford- Calum Mowat. Aboyne- Ellie Simpson. Westhill- Liam Mowatt, David Blasdale,Ryan Bremner, Adam Warren, Simon Greenland, Duncan Will and Matthew Morgan.
The growth of Sooyang Do was evident at this weekend’s examinations and provided further evidence that Sooyang Do is now firmly established as the North East’s most popular martial art.
