Stiff competition at Bennachie Sheep Dog Trials, Alford

A close fought trial took place at Auchnagathle Farm, Keig, Alford, on June 15 for this year’s Bennachie Sheep Dog Trials.

In the overall competition, three competitors had 94 points and therefore the result was decided with a re-run.

The prizewinners from the event were as follows:

The Mortimer Cup was won by Ian McKay (Bob), totally 94 (re-run). The runners up were: 2 John Casey with Dot (94), 3 Neil McEachern with Chloe (94), 4 John McKillop with Joe (92), 5 James Weir with Floss (91) and 6 Murdo Murray with Gael (91).

The Towns and Carnie Cup (open) for Best Outrun and Lift went to Murdo Murray (Gael). For Best Fetch it was Andrew Hughson with Fay. Best Shed went to Ian McKay (Bob), and Best Pen to Ogilvie Brown with Rab.

The George Dey Cup for Best Two Dog Aggregate went to Mike MacInally and the Sandy Moir Memorial Quaich for Best Pen and Shed was awarded to John Casey with Dot.

The Gordon Petrie Shield for Best Local Competitor went to Joe Mackenzie (Tweedie), and the Gordons of Alford Prize for Best Local Drive went to Ian Wilkie (Moss).

The Harold Fraser Memorial Bowl for Best Open Drive went to Andrew Hughson (Fay).
