Grampian League success for Banchory-Stonehaven

Banchory Stonehaven AC U13 Girls and U17 Women’s Teams both finished in first place at the Grampian Athletics League final in Inverness.

Both teams reached the final, which was held last Sunday, - September 11, by coming in the top four of the League’s East District Clubs, who took on the top four from the North District.

The Under 13 girls beat close rivals Inverness Harriers into first place, and the U17 Women, Aberdeen.

Team manager Heather Thomson paid thanks to the girls following the final.

She said: “This was a great achievement for both of the teams.

“ I just wanted to thank all of you who made yourselves available for selection this year.

“To those of you who were picked to represent BSAC at this year’s Grampian League Events, you can take the credit for the points that secured our place in the Final.

“I also want to thank the dedicated group of parents who volunteered to help at each event.

“All of this makes the Manager role so much easier.”

The aim of BSAC is to introduce athletic skills to youngsters, to develop those skills and to provide goals through the attainment of club standards and involvement in competition both locally and further afield.

The Club, comprising of girls and boys from the age of nine and upwards to seniors, competes regularly in the Petrofac League.

During the winter months members of BASC also compete in local and national cross country competitions.
