On a dull and cold afternoon at Milton Park, Saints entertained Longside in their third league match of the season.

The game started briskly with Longside on the attack, but Saints had the best chance when Richard Stainer broke free but his shot went just wide.

It was end-to-end with Saints gradually getting the better of the away side but Longside went ahead in the 29th minute when they broke down the left and a shot-cum-cross went over the Saints keeper and into the net.

Only two minutes later Longside doubled their advantage to make it 2-0.

Saints pressed hard and a free kick outside the 18 yard box was fired just over from Shaun Carrol.

The second half started with Longside on the attack with their striker seeing his shot come back off the post with the goalkeeper beaten.

Saints’ Scott Garrett’s shot just wide of the post before the Milton Park side were reduced to ten men as Strachan received a second yellow card and subsequent red.

Stainer and Garrett had the best chances as the Saints upped their game and took the game to Longside.

Stainer was brought down in the box by the Longside goalkeeper, who was yellow carded by the referee, and Stainer got up to convert the spot kick to make the score 2-1.

Scully replaced Gray for the last five minutes but well into injury time Longside sealed the game with their third goal after a mix up in the defence.

Saints probably deserved a draw at least and with the chances they created they could have won the game.

Lottery draw: 3-7-9-12-17-18. There were no winners this week so the prize money will rise to £2,800.
