Stonehaven girls part of winning Scotland team at Celtic Youth Games

Banchory Stonehaven athletes Kelsey Stewart and Alisha Rees were proud members of the winning Scotland team at the Celtic Games Youth International match held at Colwyn Bay on Saturday, August 3.

The competition features the best U16 and U18 athletes from Scotland, Ireland and Wales and is a highly respected and high calibre competition.

Competing in the 400m, Kelsey ran 55.10 to win the race emphatically and was just a second off the Celtic Games record.

She was part of the 4x400m relay squad that set a new Celtic Games record of 3.52.00.

Alisha, competing for Scotland for the first time, set a new personal best time of 25.33, coming second in the U16 girls 200 metres.

It was a great win for Scotland and great experience for the girls who will be in action again at the Scottish Athletics Age Group Championships in Aberdeen next weekend, and also the English National Championships in Bedford at the end of August.
