Earlier this month saw a thrilling finish to the South Aberdeenshire Swimming Junior League, with Upper Deeside lifting the trophy, just three points ahead of rivals Banchory Beavers.
Coach Caroline Erni said: “The final result couldn’t have been any closer; the difference in points represents the value of one individual swim – any one of our swimmers could have been the one that made the difference!
“It was a fantastic end to the series, and I’d like to congratulate all the swimmers who took part, not just from Upper Deeside, but from Banchory, Stonehaven and Westhill, who made the league such a success.”
While the Junior League was drawing to a close, another squad of Upper Deeside swimmers were making their mark at the annual Graded Meet in Inverness.
Several of the 10-strong squad were awarded gold, silver and bronze medals, along with speeding tickets for their efforts; particularly worthy of note was the girls’ relay team who took gold in both their freestyle and medley events.
