This year’s Aboyne & Deeside Festival got off to a good start with a reception on Friday July 25 in Aboyne to recognise the efforts of those involved.

‘Friends’ of the Aboyne & Deeside Festival were in attendance at the event.

Hugh Moffat, who founded the festival in 1991, and his wife Anne, were presented by Geoff Cormack with an engraved silver plate to honour their 23 years of devoted service to the festival.

Sunday July 27 saw one of the first events of the festival take place - a performance by the Mozart Clarinet Quartet in St Thomas’s Church, Aboyne.

Philip Greene (clarinet), Andy Linklater (violin), Richard Clark (viola) and Bill Linklater (cello) performed works by Mozart and Cruselle in front of a capacity audience.

It is hoped that this performance was the first of many brilliant concerts by the Clarinet Quartet.
