Quiz teams across Deeside have been racking their brains to compete for first place in the area final of the Rotary Primary Schools Quiz.

Last Saturday, May 10, 13 teams representing Aberdeen, Deeside, Donside and Kincardine battled it out for champion of the annual primary schools quiz in Aboyne.

The event was held in Aboyne community theatre and organised and run by the Rotary Club of Aboyne and Upper Deeside. Families and teachers were great at supporting the young quizzers.

Saturday’s area finals involved 10 rounds of challenging questions ranging from curriculum to general knowledge.

All teams performed very well, with Arduthie Primary taking first place, closely followed by Cults Primary.

The top two teams from the competition will go forward to the North of Scotland finals, which are set to be held in Aberdeen’s Beach Ballroom on June 14.

Arduthie School’s winning team were Cameron McAlpine, Rachael Taylor, Alicia Meiklejohn and Finn McRobbie.

The bright sparks were presented with the silver salver by Hilary Gordon, Rotary’s Assistant District Governor for the area.

She congratulated all the teams on their achievement and thanked them and their supporters for their involvement. Rotarian John Halkett presented certificates to participants.
