This month marks the 32nd successful year for Banchory Singers, the community choir which has become an essential part of the local arts scene, writes a contributor.
The singers’ new season begins on August 29, and rehearsals are every Wednesday from 7.15-9.30pm in the West Church. The choir will begin rehearsing for its festive concert, which will feature not only traditional Christmas carols and classical favourites, but also twentieth century pieces by British composers, and some new pieces from the Baltic area.
New members are always welcome, especially men. Ages in the choir range from the seventies to twenties.
The current singers also range from the highly accomplished and experienced members to new and developing voices – all have something to offer.
Anyone interested in joining the Banchory Singers can come along for a no commitment, two-week ‘free trial’ on a Wednesday evening at the West Church, start time 7.15.
