A celebration of local food craft will take place at The Barn in Banchory tomorrow (Friday) evening.

‘Spotlight on Food’ will include an indoor market with produce from Aberdeen City and Shire, a film featuring ten local food and drink producers, and dinner in Buchanan’s Bistro.

The event is being organised by The Mixing Bowl Aberdeen, a community-led food group based in Bieldside.

It was formed in 2014 with the aim of bringing people together to learn, discover and share anything to do with food.

The group offers talks, tastings, demonstrations and workshops by inviting local people to share their passion of good food with others, whether it is a dish from their country, a new skill they have learned, or a hobby they pursue.

Through funding, The Mixing Bowl organised the Deeside Local Food Festival in 2015 and last year the one-day event in Cults attracted more than 3500 visitors and 49 food stalls and vendors.

Spotlight on Food is a separate event and will feature the 20-minute ‘Meet the Producer’ film - which also ran at the festival - and give visitors the opporunity to sample an indoor Aberdeenshire produce market.

The market will open at 5.30pm, the film will be shown at 6pm and the bistro dinner will be at 7.30pm.
